CODES is the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposits. Formed in 1989 at the University of Tasmania, the Centre is regarded as a global leader in ore deposit research and postgraduate training. It is home to 45 highly qualified research staff and over 100 postgraduate students, further cementing its position as the largest university-based team of ore deposit researchers in the world. Highly productive worldwide collaborations have been developed with over 50 industry companies, plus a host of joint research initiatives with over 80 institutions and universities. It currently has 36 major projects spanning over 30 countries.
